Press Release - September 2009

Recently Tamara Bertrand-Brewster, a twenty year veteran in the interior design field, as well as, owner and operator of The Drapery Loft and Design Studio has turned some of her inspirations towards fabric artistry.

After losing both her grandmother and father within six weeks of each other in the spring of 2008, she decided to take a break from the interior design field and focus on family.

It wasn't long before her creative energies returned.  Coming from a family of immense creative wealth, the only logical path she could follow was to continue on in their legacy; hence Lofty Legacys was born.

Lofty Legacys is her personal signature line of one of a kind and limited edition pillows, throws, sofa critters, plush animal decorations, fabric totes, pet beds, jewellery and so much more.   This whimsical array of personal and home products was not only inspired by her family but also by her clients and colleagues.

After working in the design field for more than two decades, Tamara has witnessed firsthand the kind of personal and home products that people gravitate to time and time again.  In other words, she understands the true definition of what is timeless and her mission is to design and produce an array of products that bridges the gap between all generations; and will not only be cherished, but will become part of their own legacy.

She does this by mixing both new and vintage fabrics, trims, buttons, threads and so on. This ensures that Lofty Legacys pieces are not only endearing, but also add a sense of charm to each personal space they adorn.

Detail is also a key element.  Tamara incorporates something special and unique in each one of her creations.   Whether, it's a antique bakelite button or a piece of trim left over from Stratford costume pieces  ... each  piece is rare and one of a kind. She even signs and numbers each item to ensure limited exclusivity.

Tamara will also work with your own fabrics and customize many of her creations just for you.

Repurposing a family wool blanket into pillows that can be given to each one of the grandchild is one of THE most popular requests.  In fact, the quintessential reasoning behind Lofty Legacys is just that.....taking something cherished and worn from times gone by and making it beautiful once again.

Currently, Tamara fills her days working full time in her chosen career and first passion...interior design; but often designs Lofty Legacy items into the wee hours of the night.

Although to some, her schedule may seem somewhat daunting, in her words  " I love what I do...some people are just born to be creative...and for me, I can't imagine living my life any other way...que sera sera."
